Capturing you, your life and those you love to share it with
Hertfordshire Wedding Photographer
Why do I love wedding photography ?
Simply said, I would like to give you unforgettable memories. Each wedding day I photograph is a unique story of you and your family and friends. I don’t follow recipes and rules. All my wedding galleries look and feel different as people are very different. So, your beautiful photos will tell an authentic story of your day. That’s what makes your photos epic and real.
How do I achieve this ?
Firstly, I capture every aspect of your day in a very natural, authentic and elegant way. Anticipation, anxiety, joy, sadness and love will all be part of your wedding. Therefore, it is really important for me to give you photos with feeling and honesty. Secondly, my storytelling approach means that I would normally arrive by 10 am covering all your getting ready fun and continue taking photos throughout your day until there is a natural end to all the celebrations. Even 4am would be absolutely fine!! And please don’t worry if I blend into the background. My best images are captured this way. I also invest in the best photographic equipment for your wedding day – from cameras to memory cards!
Do you supply prints and albums ?
Oh Yes ! Ideally I would like to give you something “to have and to hold” to remind you of all your special moments for many years to come. For instance, I include prints and a wedding album in my packages as I believe photos will genuinely bring your home to life. I often think, why would couples hire a professional wedding photographer if they are not planning on printing any photos? Digital is ok initially, as you can easily share online photos with all. As time goes by nothing surpasses print, as it always survives and brings back all those special moments and memories. So, my suggestion is to print them, frame them, display them. Simply, show off the best day of your life in your home for all to admire.
Are we in safe hands ?
My priority, is giving you my best, from our first meeting, taking the time to get to know you, capturing your wedding and delivering your images through to aftercare such as ordering albums, prints and wall art.
Crucially, all my couples should feel that their wedding matters, because I truly care. In other words, I aim to meet you in person at your wedding venue before the big day, discussing all your requirements and ideas. At the time, we would also go through your pre-wedding questionnaire to make sure your day runs just the way you imagined it, or even better than you ever imagined.
I feel self-conscious ?
In addition, I am always available to offer advice along the way, should you have any questions about planning your schedule or if you are worried about certain aspects. For instance, not all people love being in front of a camera and I am definately one of them. So, I completely understand how you feel. If this sounds familiar, I would arrange a complimentary photo session with you, helping you overcome your fears. This way you would feel far more relaxed in front of my lens on your wedding day. Don’t worry as you don’t have to look at my camera. Best to forget that I am there, apart from group photo time.
Every wedding is different and I would like your photographs to be an honest memory of your special day. Just the way you imagined it!
If you are looking for a Hertfordshire wedding photographer
Hello, I’m Nel, a Hertfordshire wedding photographer living near St Albans with my husband Leon, two wonderful children and 5 pets. Leon is also my trusted second photographer who has been by my side for 25 years.
We are originally from South Africa and have been living in the UK since 1996 and Hertfordshire has been our home for just over 20 years. Working with people have always been my passion. So, after leaving school I studied B.Sc. in Physiotheraphy and then worked as a physio in the UK for over ten years. This has given me great experience in engaging with people and more so understanding their needs.
Apart from my love of working with people I have always been a very keen artist, hence my passion for photography. My natural, authentic photographic style and ongoing love of punchy vibrant images have certainly been influenced by my South African heritage. Having the experience of living on two different continents with different cultures made me realise that we all have our own individual perspective on life, in other words, people are different. Every wedding I do, is a unique representation of each couple, the relationships they share with family and friends and above all the love they share for one another.
I trained as a professional wedding photographer for one year with The Trained Eye Academy based in Amersham. Mike Garrard, Damion Mower, Benjamin Toms and Faye Cornhill were my tutors and mentors. All are amazing photographers and I cannot thank them enough for their advice and expert direction.
Although I am based in Hertfordshire I am available for weddings throughout the UK.
