TOP 5 REASONS WHY I LOVE NOTLEY ABBEY AS A WEDDING VENUE
Set In The Beautiful Buckinghamshire Countryside
Notley Abbey is truly a home-from-home wedding venue nestled in the beautiful Buckinghamshire countryside. I am always attracted to beautiful English landscapes, history and architecture. That’s why Notley Abbey is so perfect for couples who share this passion. On arrival you are greeted by a mesmerising, long treelined driveway leading to the beautiful, medieval house in spectacular grounds. In summer, the front garden and path leading up to the house are dressed with the most beautiful purple and white lavenders. Autumn makes way for a blanket of colourful autumn leaves and late flowering fragant roses. It is definitely not easy to choose between the seasons here when planning your wedding day.
A Wedding Photographer’s Dream
This award winning, medieval country residence is simply overflowing with photographic opportunity. I have to say it is honestly a wedding photographer’s dream. I absolutely love luxury weddings in charming historic houses tucked away in the English countryside. This house certainly ticks all the boxes, not only for couples but for photographers too. There are so many wonderful romantic photo spots to choose from. The magnificent treelined driveway is a must for your couple photo shoot. Autumn is one of my favourite months when the leaves turn colour. It is so beautiful to arrive on a crisp, bright autumn morning seeing the autumn leaves scattered on the lawns. The medieval architecture is a great backdrop for photos too. There are ancient doors, ivy cladded walls, ornate gates and a vintage Bentley that all contribute to the overall experience and adds so much to your wedding story.
A House With Rich Historical Background
The house is the former home of Laurence Olivier and Vivien Leigh and played host to royalty and celebrity, from Henry VIII to Marilyn Monroe. Needless to say, it is the perfect wedding venue boasting with a millennium of decadent celebrations. It is always magical to see this great house buzzing to life playing host to splendid modern day wedding celebrations. You can share in its history, luxury and romance by making it part of your unique wedding day.
Exclusive Use Luxury Wedding Venue
The house is exclusively yours for all your magical wedding celebrations. Your day, your way, just how you imagined it! From a photographer’s perspective, Notley Abbey allows for capturing unique wedding stories. Couples can really add their own flair to their wedding day. Choose to either tie the knot in Abbot’s Hall, the Monk’s Refectory or outside in the walled garden nook. So you can get married in all weathers. If you planned your civil ceremony in the garden and it rains on your wedding day then you are simply moved to one of the indoor spaces which is also a bonus for wedding photographers. Bijou Weddings are truly blessed to have Notley Abbey as part of their showcase of exclusive-use wedding venues near London.
Gorgeous Light
Photographers always look for good natural light, especially indoors. The house is blessed with fantastic, natural light-filled rooms. The bridal suite has many windows and a gorgeous floor to ceiling mirror. It is a wonderfully spacious room and just perfect for photos. The Cottage is great for groom preperation and unlike most cottages there are two large windows in the main guest room. I love taking natural looking photos, without using a flash, especially in the morning when everyone is getting ready. I just know I will get the images I love at Notley Abbey.
